The peer mentoring project gives people with lived experience of mental health the opportunity to be paired up with a trained volunteer. The support offered will be person-centred, meaning you can choose the type of support you receive from a volunteer before you are paired up.
“It exceeded my expectations in terms of confidence building. I feel my perception of myself and what I can achieve is massively changed to before. Also very impressed and touched by the generosity of my mentor giving up his time – I never felt rushed. Very thankful.”
“It was good to have someone to talk to who had experience of my issues. I was able to gain insight into life skills from my peer mentor.”
This could be related to:
- Social contact
- Training & educational opportunities
- Employment or volunteering
- Cultural activities
- Physical activities etc.
“I wasn’t expecting the experience to be so powerful. My social skills and self-confidence were strengthened. It was very important work for which I am very grateful.”
