Peer Mentoring Project

it exceeded my expectations in terms of confidence building. I feel my perception of myself and what I can achieve is massively changed to before. Also very impressed and touched by the generosity of my mentor giving up his time – I never felt rushed. Very thankful.

The peer mentoring project gives people with lived experience of mental health the opportunity to be paired up with a trained volunteer. The support offered will be person centred, meaning you can choose the type of support you receive from a volunteer before you are paired up.

It was good to have someone to talk to who had experience of my issues. I was able to gain insight into life skills from my peer mentor.

This could be related to:

  • Social contact
  • Training & educational opportunities
  • Employment or volunteering
  • Cultural activities
  • Physical activities etc.

I wasn’t expecting the experience to be so powerful. My social skills and self-confidence were strengthened. It was very important work for which I am very grateful.

To find out more about our peer mentoring project, please contact us to arrange an appointment with our peer mentoring coordinator who will tell you more and carry out a short assessment with you.

I feel a lot more confident about my gender identity and I felt like it met a lot of my needs.
