LGBTQ+ Mental Health Hero of the Week: Layla Brain

A smiling woman giving two thumbs up and wearing a medal for having just completed the Brighton Marathon 2018.

This week’s Queer Mental Health Hero is Layla Brain, one of our sponsored Brighton Marathon runners who raised a phenomenal £685 for MindOut. Has Layla inspired you? Then sign up to run the Brighton Marathon 2019 for MindOut here.

Layla has fundraised for various organisations in the past. We asked her why she chose to run the Brighton Marathon for us this year. She said:

‘The marathon was a big achievement for me and I’m so glad I could raise some money for MindOut.

I have struggled with depression for a few years but things really came to a head last summer. If it wasn’t for the support of family and friends I don’t know where I would be! The marathon was a big focus for me and helped massively with my recovery. Exercise does wonders for my mental health.

It was incredibly important for me to raise awareness and funds for MindOut because I want to help other LGBTQ people like myself.’
