'...it was amazing to meet other LGB&T people with similar problems. I didn't feel so alone anymore'
We run groups where LGB&T people can share their experiences, problems and stories with each other. Many LGB&T with lived experience of mental health are keen to meet each other outside of the commercial 'scene'. We aim to provide a place to meet where it is safe to identify as LGB&T and as having mental health concerns.
To find out more about joining Peer Support Groups, please contact us to arrange an appointment with our Group Coordinator who will tell you more and carry out a short assessment with you. Some of our groups have a waiting list for new members.
We run two types of groups: 'closed' and 'open'. 'Closed' groups run with the same members for 9 week sessions, between 4.30 and 6pm on Tuesdays. The 'Open' group also runs between 4.30 and 6pm on Tuesdays and is open to any current members of the group work service.
All of our groups are run by Group Workers, members agree to abide by a Group Agreement.
Out of the Blue is a peer support group for LGB&T people who have, or who are, experiencing suicidal distress. Run by a Group Worker, Out of the Blue meets on Thursday 12 – 2pm.
'it's not easy being gay and black, you feel alone most of the time...but blackout has helped me connect with other people in the same situation'
Is a new development for black, asian and minority ethnic people who are LGB&T who have emotional or mental health issues. We provide a safe place for people to meet each other.
If you would like to talk in confidence to a black LGBT worker, we can offer one-to-one advice, information and advocacy.
